Lettering Tutorial: How to Blend Watercolor and Brush Pens

Hi everyone!  One of the things I enjoy the most is being able to implement blending in my lettering, so today I wanted to show you in three easy steps how to make a blending of colors using a marker and watercolor.

Materials

STEP 1

Start by choosing the marker and the watercolor you want to blend, In my case, I used a Dual Brush Pen Tombow (847) and a liquid Ecoline watercolor (311).

STEP 2

Put the maker's tip into the watercolor for a few seconds, so it can absorb the color, the longer you leave it, the more intense the color will be.

STEP 3

Write the word or phrase you have chosen on the watercolor paper. Remember to put pressure on the down-strokes, in this way you will see the difference between the two colors. I made the word “Super” from the October’s #letteringpositivevibes Challenge I have hosted since June/2019.

If you have some experiences or want to try something different, as optional steps add outline and shadow to your lettering it would look amazing. I hope you have found this tutorial helpful Check my Instagram to get more ideas and inspirations.
